Hanging the Muslin

The initial phase of the process involves suspending the 20 ft x 40 ft raw muslin panels from the truss system before stretching and painting.

Each backdrop arrives pre-finished with top grommets and ties. Weighing approximately 50 pounds dry—and up to double once painted—these panels require a scissor lift for safe raising. To prevent excessive stress on any single tie, the weight must be evenly distributed across multiple ties along the lift railing.

Working from the center outward, the backdrop is tied to the truss, ensuring enough slack to allow all sides to reach the 2 x 4 framing where the muslin will later be stapled.
